Therapy in Arlington and across Texas

Understanding a problem is not always enough to change it.

I work with adults whose anxiety, trauma responses, or overthinking continue even after they understand exactly where those patterns come from. Therapy here starts from the assumption that your reactions make more sense than they seem.

Who I help

  • Adults living with anxiety or chronic vigilance
  • People affected by trauma or difficult past experiences
  • People who overthink, analyze, and still feel stuck
  • People who understand their patterns intellectually but react the same way regardless

When knowing isn't the same as feeling

It's a familiar and frustrating experience: you can explain exactly why you feel anxious, defensive, or shut down, and the explanation changes almost nothing. Some part of you still braces for danger that your thinking mind has already ruled out.

That gap makes more sense than it seems. A person can consciously believe they're safe while another part of their experience continues to respond as though they're not. Therapy is partly the work of finding out what that other part still expects, and why.

What therapy with me is like

I tend to treat symptoms as something closer to evidence than malfunction. Anxiety, avoidance, shutting down, or holding people at a distance usually developed for reasons that made sense at some point, even if those reasons aren't easy to see anymore. My job is less to correct you and more to get curious alongside you about what your reactions are actually protecting.

That curiosity usually involves talking things through carefully, but it isn't limited to conversation. Sometimes the most useful information shows up as a bodily sensation, an image, or a reaction you didn't expect, and the words come later. I'm comfortable working with both the analytical and the less easily explained parts of your experience.
